I made it out alive!
Last week I went to a Family Team Conference, for one of my GAL families. Man, that was scary! This was the first really "hairy" thing I have had to do as a Guardian. GAL, DCF, and the mother in this case all meet in a room with a facilitator to "talk" about moms case plan. Well let's just say mom doesn't like me very much!! This girl is just that, a girl. She is very immature and has constantly missed her visitation, so when that was brought up, she got very defensive. She was crying and telling me that I just don't understand. I wanted to say " you know what, you're right. I don't understand how you can miss what little visitations you have with your child, because of nonsense. And you're right I don't understand how you can still be dating the alleged perp, and think that you have a snowballs chance in hell in getting your kids back. And I don't even understand how you can be sitting across the table yelling like I am the reason you lost your kids. So for once lady, you are right!" Of course all I really said was " you're right I don't understand how it feels to be without my children, so let's work together to help you get them back". I don't think she bought it!!

Some people really shouldn't have had children. It seems like the person that gets the short end of the stick is always the child.
