TPR
TPR- Termination of Parental Rights
Guess what, I am involved in a TPR!! No, not my own, my kids are staying put. So why you ask would I be excited about such a thing, well, I'll tell you why. The department has failed these children and we now get the chance to make it up to them and I get to help!!! These kids have been with a wonderful Foster family who has been trying to adopt them since 2001. There biological parents have continually ignored their case plan and their children, yet the judge gave them 24 months to get it together. Two months after that hearing each parent had already been arrested, yet the judge stuck to the 24 month time period. 24 months is up and if I have anything to say about it (and I do) these kids will be happily adopted very shortly!!!

I hope you get your wish. I know of a couple who were given four children between the ages of two and seven. The children have been in foster care for over two years, and this couple (though not the foster parents) has begged to keep the children together and adopt all four of them. The bio parents gave up their rights over a year ago, but now that the adoption moving along, and the children are with these new parents the bios want them back. How horrid! Finally these four children have a stable home, and the bios are interfering. They have criminal records, no home and drug addictions, and the courts are reviewing the case.
I really hope your wish for the children you know comes true.
The insanity that parents place on their children is insane. The inability (And selfishnes) to realize that they need to step out of their children's lives is beyond amazing. I am really glad that you are fighting on the side of the children.
Fight hard!
With you on their side, I'm sure things will go along just fine...LOL!
Dena,
did the bios, sign away or have their rights terminated? ther is a difference if the rights were terminated the bios have no legal recourse, but signing away they do unfourtantley. I hope that everything works out for the best.
Bless you Cara, that is wonderful that you are there for these kids who have so often (likely) not had anyone in their corner.
I get so pi$$ed off when parents screw up big time and are given chance after chance to mess up their children's lives even more all for the sake of "preserving the family."
It sounds like you are doing a wonderful job.
Oh yeah, I finally finished Remembering Blue and loved it! Once I got into it, I had trouble putting it down. Very sad, but what a wonderful and sweet love story! It was the type of story I just hate to end.
